During this module, I learned the difference between asynchronous and synchrounous.  Yesturday, I was in a meeting and the two words kept coming up in the meeting.  I did not ask the meaning of the words and I did not look them up, because the day just went by so fast.  Therefore, I am happy that I had placed this class on my schedule for this morning.  I work better teaching asynchronous.  This gives me more time with each individual student.  Plus, I am a person that is self paced.

From this lesson,  I have learned that I need to ask specific questions to make sure that the student is getting all the help he/she needs.  Plus, by asking the student what should I stop doing, what should I start doing, what should I continue doing, will help the student become a better learner. This will also help me self evaluate on what I need to do to become a better instructor.

I have learned that I need to type up a code of conduct for online participation.  I need to present the code of conduct at the beginning of the class, have students sign off on it and review the code of conduct throughout the course.

I have learned that, the open discussion I have been using, at the beginning of class is the appropriate way to have student's express themselves.  It is also a time where student's can discuss what they learned from the previous class.

In module two, I learned about having students do a biography.  In New Student Orientation, I always give the students some personal information about me.  I always ask them to introduce themselves.  By having a student type a biography and send via email to me the student is able to express more about there personal lives.  The biography would give me some ideas about the diffeent intrests each student has plus it will give me a general idea of what kind of activities or topics I should use in my lesson plans.  If the lesson plan is towards a students… >>>

To ensure learners participate in distance learning I believe giving points for attendance will help encourage the students to participate.  I will check into how to start the point process at the beginning of the next semester.  By starting at the beginning of the semester, it will give students knowledge on how the points could help them at the end of the semester.
