Eleanor, A separate phone just for students is an interesting idea. Reminders about time zone issues is essential. Good point. Thanks!

Eleanor, Excellent. If you can work during the day and have family time at night, you're ahead of many online instructor. Flexibility is a huge advantage. Thanks!

Eleanor, Good point. We have to schedule time to do what all we need to do - grading, communicating, etc. A schedule helps so many of us organize our time. Thanks!
Ty, And, do you do this through rubrics or just explaining the expectations? Thanks for adding to the conversation.
Eleanor, Right on! Open ended questions do help engage students and provide for an environment for sharing. This is a good thing. Thanks for sharing!

Monique, Ah - another good term to use to describe a rubric - a compass. That makes perfect sense. We all need to go "due north" at some time. Ha! ;-) Thanks for sharing.
Natasha, Anything we can do to help with workload management is a plus. Professional development helps us all stay current and become better at what we do. Thanks!

Natasha, Do you have a specific time of day you check email? Just wondering what works for you. We are all trying to find that balance. Thanks!

Natasha, Sounds like you've got a system. So many online instructors do not. If you can share more about your schedule and how you set it up, please do. Others would definitely be interested. Take care.
Monique, Using the word standard when describing rubrics is right on target. When we help the students understand the expectations, the standards, they are more likely to achieve the learning outcomes. Nice job.
