Amy, I love that you brought up the point that it's a mistake when we don't connect the learning objectives to the rubric. I actually list the objectives in the rubric. It helps the students understand why they are doing what they are doing. Thanks!

Frank, And, they help both the instructor and the students. It's a great day when one tool can help everyone! ;-) Thanks again for posting in these forums.

Frank, Yes, we're different as adults and we have to communicate with different people in different ways. It's the same with our students, no matter what age. Thanks!
Michael, Excellent. Without easy to use communication tools, the students will become frustrated when they communicate or won't communicate at all. That would be a big issue. Thanks for your input.
Frank, Good point. We do have to understand where our students are "coming from" and they background. This can enhance our teaching and how quickly/slowly we can help them move toward the learning outcomes. Thanks!
Vicki, Any time I use a rubric generator, no matter what it is, I tweak the rubric and criteria and scale. But, it's still easier than starting from "scratch." Thanks!
Vicki, Thanks for quick definitions and examples. It will help others grasp the material and understand the differences. Thanks for your input.

Vicki, So, your assignments and your rubrics are provided to you? If so, you may ask students how they would suggest editing the rubrics and go at it that way. Maybe. . .
Kristina, Good points. Involving the students may give them a different outlook on assessment. We have to remember that assessment is not something we do to our students, but with our students. ;-) Thanks again.

Vicki, Have you tried having students rate themselves using the rubrics and submitting that completed rubric before they submit their assignment? It "makes" them look at it and self-assessment, in my opinion, is always a good thing. Hope this is helpful. Thanks for your input.
