When do you believe you could involve students in creating rubrics?

Kim, You are so right that communication is the key. Trying to communicate the best way possible for the students helps get the message across. Thanks!

Rachel, Right on! Knowing your audience, your students, helps in so many ways. Each class is different and it's important to take the time to understand where your students are "coming from." Thanks!
Kendra, I understand completely. In my syllabus I provide examples of good and bad discussion board answers that enhance the communication. I also make it clear that the communication that occurs in class is professional communication void from texting language. That has helped me. Thanks!
Kim, Yes. The students must understand the expectations, rules, and regulations up front. The first piece of communication is typically the syllabus. This is a place where you can refer students to when they "forget" the rules and regulations. Communication is essential. Nice job.
Kim, Right on. Knowing where the students are coming from is important. We want the technology to enhance, not hinder, the learning process. Thanks!
Rachel, You are right on target. netiquette and respecting others is extremely important. Communication cna be misunderstood more easily online and we all have to be carefule to show our respect. Thank you.
Discussion Comment
Rachel, Right on! Two-fold is correct. Instructors can also use the rubric to introduce the project/assignment so the students can see the connection to the learning outcomes. Thank you.
Discussion Comment
James, The rubric not only helps the student, but the instructor as well. The instructor can use the rubric to help explain the learning outcomes "attached" to a project and help the students determine the components. The grading becomes more consistent as well. Thanks!
Rachel, As we have discuss, communication is essential. We want the online learning environment to enhance the communication and not provide barriers to the communication. Knowing your audience and developing that environment through the use of technology is important. Thanks!
