Lori & William, Thanks for continuing the conversation. We are only human. We do what we can do to the best of our abilities. Keep on truckin'!
Stanley, The largest class I have ever had online was over 400. The lastest class I taught online was over 200 students. I typically provide comprehensive feedback on the first assignment to get them started on the right foot and include a few "snippets" of what they should do in the future. Then, when they make the same mistakes, I tell them to go watch/listen to the first assessment. Do you really need students to turn in 120 assignments each week that YOU grade? What about peer evaluation? Group evaluation? Thanks for your input.
Les, Student evaluations are essential but you can get feedback from so many other methods as well. When you get feedback from a variety of audiences, you get different perspectives on the topic. Thanks for your input.
Stanley, Meaningful feedback is many things and you have hit on three specific things. I always try to start with positive feedback but also include some constructive feedback to help the student improve. Nice job.
Les, Feedback that is meaningful is essential. Providing information to students in a variety of ways is also important. We have to help all students. Thank you.

Tony, You are right. It's hard to limit it to three important things as there are so very many. However, you brought to light three very important considerations. These will all help the students succeed in the online environment. Thanks!

Joanna, The syllabus is a very important communication tool so we are all "on the same page." Using rubrics will help with consistency in grading and helping students understand the expectations as well. Thanks for your input.

Les, Thanks for prioritizing your thoughts. You bring up very good points we all need to think about as we teach in the online environment. Thanks!

Joanna, Thank you for your thorough discussion of these essential components. I also find it difficult when I think of the essential components to limit it to only three. You bring up great points about knowing your students and helping them learn and improve. The online environment has to be carefully considered as we facilitate the learning. Thanks again.
