cynthia, Clear and simple is the key. When instructions and expectations are clear and subject matter is provided in a variety of formats, the level of student success is higher. Thanks. Dr. Tena B. Crews

Kurt, You are right. I have had students tell me that I provide too much detail and it gets in the way. You have to find a balance. Dr. Tena B. Crews
Jeffrey, Netiquette is an important aspect of establishing a pattern off communication. Serving as a good role model goes a long way as well. Thanks for your input. Nice job.
Willie , See the last posting I provided about how to integrate what the students design and what you have designed. Think about it.
Mara, You might be surprised at what students can do. I have even had students develop a rubric for a project I have introduced and the provided them with my rubric, let them compare the two and we worked together to develop the final rubric. It worked well as we all bought in on what was important to assess and understood the expectations.
Donald, Glad we are making you think. :-). Give it a try.
