Jared, You ask good questions. We have to know what we are teaching, who we are teaching to and how to assure they can achieve the learning outcomes. Communication technology plays a key role in this process. Nice job.

David, Yes - we need to set the expectations up front with learning outcomes and course goals and through effective, meaningful assessment and feedback we should be able to determine that they did learn the content and achieve the learning outcomes. Thanks!

Kimberly, Thanks for adding to the conversation. You are bringing to our attention that we really need to think about how we provide content to the students to help them achieve the set learning outcomes. Thanks!

Kelly, Yes, the key is that rubrics help both students and the instructors. Remember to review your rubrics with students and ensure the criteria are clear and complete so student understand the expectations. Thanks!
Jeremy, You bring up some very good points. It is important to consider the communication tools and assess them to make sure they are working effectively for the students and for us. Thanks!
Kelly, I like communicating through the LMS and helping students get used to check the LMS daily. We do have to be careful to use the right tools and make sure the students can access the tools to get the maximum communication available through the tools. Thanks for sharing.
Traci, We do learn a lot from each others. Asking peers for input, feedback, or advice is a great way to learn from others. We also learn from students and formative feedback from them during the course can also help. Thanks for sharing.
Traci, Excellent. Students need to know when we are going to check email, the LMS, discussion board, etc. Giving them the 24 hour rule is good too. Some say 24-48 hours, but whatever your "rule" is, stick with it and communicate the rule. Thanks for your input.

Traci, Providing timeframes to students is something everyone should do. Glad you do this. Students need to know when to expect communication to occur. Nice job.

Traci, Sounds like you are developing a system that works for you. It helps me to have two email accounts. The university one for work and my gmail for personal. I don't check my gmail account while I am working. Keep up the good work at using your time wisely.
