Cyndy, Accountability is a big deal for students and for instructors. We have to both be in this together. It is important to let students know you'll keep up "your side of the bargain," but they have to keep up their side as well. Thanks!
Anthony, You provide good advice to others. The sooner we deal with distractions, issues, etc., the better. Keep up with your schedule. Thanks!
Cyndy, Setting aside time specifically for coursework is an excellent idea. We have to make sure we limit our interruptions during this time as well. Self-motivation plays an essential role in this process as well. Thanks!
Cyndy, You are right. Each class has it's own culture and we have to understand all students/groups of students are different. I've been teaching online since 1999. . .believe me, I've seen a lot of differences. Thanks for your input.
Anthony, Sounds like you are a planner. This is good. We do have to plan ahead (as do the students) and not procrastinate. Knowing your technology is also a good thing. Thank you.
Discussion Comment
Stephanie and Anthony, You are both right on target. When you can refer the students to the rubrics for further direction, it is helpful. Thanks again.
Discussion Comment
Stephanie, Thanks for your poste. And, don't forget that rubrics help the students as well. I'm glad you relate your rubrics to the objectives too. Nice job.
Discussion Comment
Stephanie, If we (or the students or any individual) doesn't understand our own weaknesses, how can we improve. And, you are right, we adapt. We provide content in a variety of ways, we communicate in a variety of ways, etc. Thanks for your input.
Kenneth, These two items have come up a lot when discussing a pattern of communication. They can't be emphasized enough. The are essential elements. Thank you.
Cyndy, When the "good and bad" are communicated in a professional manner, it should be more like constructive criticism. This is great practice for the students. They need to understand how to provide feedback to others constructively. Thanks!
