Douglas, What you say is true. And, it's beneficial for both the instructor and the students. Thanks again for your postings.

Douglas, Oh yes, we need to make sure students not only have access to the rubrics beforehand, but they review it. I use peer evaluation in a formative way to allow peers to assess each other with the rubric before they turn in their assignment. Then, everyone has to look at the rubric. Thanks!
Douglas, We do have to work to efficiently identify the best communication tool or other technology tool for the job. Then, we have to make sure it works. If the technology can help us be more interesting, informative and engaging, we've hit the jackpot. Thanks!

Tina, Great explanation. Rubrics do help all stakeholders. Thanks for adding to the conversation and helping others understand more clearly with your post.
maryln, Definitely. The input from the students may also help the instructor tweak the assignment or project. When one needs tweaking, look at the other as well. Thanks for your input.

maryln, Can you be more specific about these categories and how the relate to the criteria? This is important. Additional input would be appreciated. Thanks!
Tina , Good communication comes through good modeling. You are right. Therefore, providing good examples and making sure students understand the expectations is key. Thanks!
Tina, Technology usage and technology knowledge is important. We, as instructors, need to stay up to date as much as possible and help the students build their usage as well. Thanks for your input.

Alana, Great job. I work also to help students understand that email communication is professional communication. Keep up the good work. When I get emails from students with no name in the signature line, I email them back with one line...who is this? ;-). Then I explain I teach several courses. Thanks again.
Alana, We have fall break next week and we certainly need some time to regroup - just as the students do. Try to catch a break and be ready for courses too. ;-). It's hard, but we have to keep trying. Thanks.
