Faith , Have you tried Remind 101? It allows you to write one message, but it is texted to all students. It's good for reminder especially.
Theran, You bring up a good point. When the standard routine changes, students do need to be informed. I like that you noted how you respond to students in a variety of ways. Thanks!
Steven, You are so right. Online instructors shouldn't be 24/7 instructors. We have to carve out our own time and make sure students understand when we are available and how they can contact us. Thanks!

Theran, Ah - a routine. I am a creature of habit. ;-) But, it works for me. Building a routine for answering students' questions, providing feedback and completing assessment it awesome. Thanks!
Jessica, Many online instructors use weekly announcements or discussion boards or other ways to keep students engaged. Students do need reminders.
Roland, The guidelines and helping students understand those guidelines are essential. And, you are right, we are the role model. Keep up the good work.
Janette, Definitely. Without technology that can be easily used, visually appealing and adaptable, there won't be much benefit from using it. Thanks!
Gary, The key are the criteria. They have to be detailed enough to help students understand the expectations, yet allow for creativity and help the instructor be more objective in his/her assessment. Thanks1
Steve, Definitely. Practical exams, student performance, etc. help us see what the students know and/or don't know or what they can do or can't do. Thanks!
Gary, I see your point. We do need to be positive, but you are right, we need to give students constructive criticism so that they can improve. Thanks!
