Fred, We also connect with others through professional development and see how others deal with things in the learning environment and learn from them. Thanks for your continued posts in these forums.
Thomas, We have to investigate our strengths and weaknesses in all that we do in life. It's especially true in teaching. The professional development can help. Thanks!

Thomas, Great. Many times instructors and institutions put too many learning objectives in a course and there's no way the students can learn them all. So, you're doing a good thing when concentrating on 4-5 objectives. Thanks!

Phyllis, Bringing in current events and things students can relate to (such as movies) is a great learning tool. The students become engaged and learn how the content relates to the real world. Nice.
Thomas, The feedback we get from students is awesome. We have to take their feedback into consideration so that we can edit our courses and teaching to make the course and learning better. Thanks!

Thomas, So, you produce these videos yourself and post them so students can watch them at their leisure?

Fred, Do you have any way of providing feedback to those who are "mandating" these things so that they may more carefully consider what all they are asking you to do?
Discussion Comment
Thomas, I tell students to email me only when it's a personal issue. All other questions should be posted on the FAQ discussion board so that all students can benefit from the questions and answers. Thanks!
Thomas, Agreed. I do this all the time with my huge online courses. I even assign them to be responsible for facilitating their own discussions, etc. Nice job.
Thomas, Being present s great, but we have to make sure our students are present as well. That's why your technique of using probing questions is a good thing. Thanks!
