Chander, Right on. We do want to have a supportive environment through an interactive course. Keep the communication flowing. Thanks!

Wayne , You are right on target. We do have to help students understand that we're there to help them through the learning process and facilitate their learning, but they have to "pull their weight" too. Keep communicating and working with all students. Thanks!

ROBERT, We all communicate differently and have different learning personalities. It's good to think about the generations while you are building the community of learners. Thanks!
Chander, Great - you have added another "C" word to the conversation - Clarity. Consistency and clarity are excellent components. Thanks!
Wayne , Excellent. I agree that instructors should provide the rules for communication so that students understand when and how to communicate. This adds to the consistency. Thanks!
Troy, Yes, I just responded to another posting about consistency and patter, but, you're right - timeliness is also essential. A 24-48 hour rule is a common thing. Thanks! Keep it up.
ROBERT, The terms consistency and pattern do certainly go together. When we establish that pattern students benefit from knowing how and when we will communicate as well. Thanks!
Chander, Definitely. The tool and assessment of the tool are essential. The communication tool has to work for both the students and the instructor. Thanks!
Troy, It is key, as you noted, that the students be able to easily use the technology to effectively communicate. The communication tool must be assessed and edits made if possible. Thanks for your input.
ROBERT, We do have to continually assess our communication and the technology used to communicate. You are right that we do need to then implement any changes we can. Thanks for your input.
