Donna, Yes, we do need schedules and to be focused on what we are doing when we are supposed to be doing it. Nice job.

Peter, Good point. We have to keep students and family AND ourselves happy. We can do it with some planning. Thanks!

Deborah, I agree totally. Proactive communication is so much better than reactive. Planning is essential. Thanks!

Deborah, Excellent idea. The alarm can help you stick to working time and down time. Thanks for the tip.
Deborah, Checklists can help students stay on track and feel good about what they have accomplished in the course. Sounds like you are doing lots of things to help the students be successful. Thanks!

Peter, Glad you brought up the out of office announcement. That's important. I use it in conjunction withe an announcement to students letting them know I'll be out of town for a bit. Thanks!

Deborah, You have to set time to work and set time to NOT work. We have to keep our sanity and do all we can to not become a 24/7 instructor. Thanks!

Deborah, The things you are doing also help the students with their time management skills. That's a great thing. Thanks!

Sandra, I feel your pain. When I have a paper due (and I have over 200 students sometimes), I'll grade them in parts. I'll grade the abstract, then the introduction, then the body, then the conclusion and references. The separate parts add up to the total grade. I grade more times, but it goes more quickly. And, if I find an issue in one part, they can make it right in the next part. Just a thought.
