Terry, A communication tool - that it is. The key is that it helps both the instructor and the students. When we're all on the "same page," the better! Thanks!

Terry, Good examples. I like the fact that you thought about the different generations and what you may "run into." Thanks!
Terry, A code of conduct helps all students understand the communication rules. When you have consequences, the code becomes even more real. Thanks!
Terry, Ha! Everything can be a loaded question. ;-) There's a paradox everywhere we turn in education. Thanks for the resources in this post. I think join.me can be an asset for many reading this. Thanks!
Agnes, Sure - I see your point. But, as students are all different, the class cultures are different. For one class and assignment may need to be tweaked or how content is provided may need to be edited a bit. It can be the small changes that make the difference for various classes. Thanks for your continued input in these forums.
Agnes, I am reading a great book called The Courage to Teach. It's very enlightening and makes me (even after 30 years of teaching) think about me as a teacher, learner and leader. Keep reflecting! ;-)

Agnes, We definitely have to think about the course content in combination with the learning objectives. When we can connect everything we do in the course to the learning objectives -- even better for the students. Nice job.
George, Yes, the comments we can provide to students helps make the feedback more meaningful. This meaningful feedback helps the students improve. Nice job.
George, Excellent. This is what we need to do. There are typically not rubrics pre-made that perfectly fit our needs. We have to tweak them to make them align with the objectives and meet our needs. Thanks.

George, Right on! The rubrics help the students understand the expectations and help the instructor be more objective in their grading. I like that you mention the detailed feedback that can also be provided through the rubrics. Thanks!
