I like the idea of students finding websites that they can share with the group! 

Having a variety of assessment methods pays honor to the fact that students have different learning styles while some students may have learning disabilities. 

I can see myself wanting to expand on what was explained in this module. For instance, I had a student who had already worked internationally in professional capacities using two languages other than English. English was his third language. Unfortunately, he did not gain an aptitude for the technical and professional usage required in my industry. When I tried to get help for him from my institutional superiors, I was told there were no supports to help with acquiring the technical language skills he was struggling with. I will try to figure some of this out before my next student… >>>

When I read the strategy of providing time for students who may need time to translate from their first language, I recalled an assumption I had made about this student who was trained in another country and was now learning how to do 'our' profession in a new country. I had assumed she was trained [learned terminology, ways of doing our profession, etc.] in her first language. Her and I seemed to not be communicating very well. I finally asked her which language she was trained in "back home," thinking I may not have been giving her enough time to… >>>

I appreciated the strategies to be more inclusive. I have to be careful about using humor!

I appreciated the tips for each type of assessment question. The details about language comprehension is also a key to knowing the students in the class. 

I enjoy seeing a student feel that satisfaction at having answered a "tough" question, e.g., one that requires higher levels in Bloom's taxonomy. On the contrary, I have gone back to the drawing board to formulate a different question if it did not lead to that same outcome. Now I see that I can use a series of questions to get the student to the correct answer. 

I appreciated that you mentioned the socioeconomic factor in that some students may not have had the same kind of advantages as others with respect to using technology and therefore, these students may not be as "techie" as I might think they are! Always best to not assume ;) 

This session reinforced for me the importance of the bookends, that is the introduction of and the conclusion to the class.
