Rubrics provide an excellent guide for the student that they can use to help answer many of the quesitons they have about an assignment.

I agree with many of the other comments that using scaffolding to help build on prior knowledge will engage the student and increase their involvment.

It is very important to understand how to handle a disruptive learner.  Even in a remote environment there should be other resources for the teacher to get help for the student.

I liked the idea of providing summaries of the discussion board for review and for the instructor not to post until the end of the discussion board.

I learned how biographies are a good way to start to get to know students and they can get to know you but I would also like to know other ice breaker type activities to use in a remote learning situation.

I have learned how to structure an online course so it manageable on the teacher side while still being engaging enough for students to want to continue.  It is important that students are actively engaged in the class to increase learning.
