About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

David, that's a great idea to try & anticipate those "why" questions & as you said, have the answers in print as well as verbally. Dr. Ryan Meers
Donna, yes it really is a good idea to mix the generational groups up if possible. This is a reflection of the current work environment. Dr. Ryan Meers
Scott, yes and while there are frustrations the fact that they can use technology in so many ways means they have great minds capable of learning. We just need to reach them! Dr. Ryan Meers
ellen, you are right on all these fronts. I think we need to help the students learn & appreciate the art of slowing down. Dr. Ryan Meers
Jeffrey, there are definite challenges with this generation. On the positive side, there seems to be a movement starting to break away from technology. My hope is that the pendulum will swing back to the middle & we'll see them return to some of these skills. Dr. Ryan Meers
Mark, I would agree that while there are some challenges, I have found the Gen Yers to be more open to me experimenting & trying new methods. Dr. Ryan Meers
Joy , this is a great awareness that we all need to keep in mind. Dr. Ryan Meers
Donna, you are right that we want to make sure to keep their attention & good use of technology can help with that. Dr. Ryan Meers
Joanne, this was a key learning for me when I first started studying the generations as well. Dr. Ryan Meers
