About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Activity

Brian, yes & I think very reflective of the real work environment. Dr. Ryan Meers
Brian, I think is a great strategy & I like to try & get some feedback from the students as well to see if it worked or what I can improve. Dr. Ryan Meers
Carl, I would agree that it seems sometimes our advising process fails the struggling students. As you said they are enrolled in courses or whole programs where their chance for success is very slim. Dr. Ryan Meers
Deborah, I think the key is communicating with the student & keeping those lines open. Dr. Ryan Meers
Leon, yes asking them what has worked in the past is a great way to help them in the present. Dr. Ryan Meers
sean, I would say we all need to explore & see if we can do something at least somewhat similar to get that variety. Dr. Ryan Meers
Joe, I would definitely second this regarding the comprehension aspect. I like the practice of paraphrasing as well. Dr. Ryan Meers
Leon, I would agree that this does seem to be an area of weakness for many students. Dr. Ryan Meers
Khalid, I think this is a great way to try & make a run at more challenging concepts in a variety of ways. Dr. Ryan Meers
Adrienne, I think all of these demonstrate your willingness to help your students & I'm sure that is noticed by them. Dr. Ryan Meers
