About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

James, not that I'm aware of; I would recommend making sure other students know, just in case you are discussing something personal. Dr. Ryan Meers
Tara , I think case studies are a great idea; maybe also some questions that require them to paraphrase what they read. Dr. Ryan Meers
Sherry, yes those real life experiences are a great way to promote learning & application at the same time. Dr. Ryan Meers
Radha, I agree that a big part of it is staying in tune with our students & properly monitoring their progress. Dr. Ryan Meers
Tara , these are great ideas to help those readers who may be struggling. Dr. Ryan Meers
James, yes, it is very important to see if anything has been documented & accomodations called for. Dr. Ryan Meers
Discussion Comment
Radha, great point made here; groups can be a great tool to ease non-traditional learners back into the educational environment. Dr. Ryan Meers
Sherry, I would agree, or spend some time talking about the importance of diversity beforehand. Dr. Ryan Meers
