About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Lisa, it really is best to wait for them to come to you. This can be hard to do, but you do not want to cross any ethical or legal lines. Dr. Ryan Meers
Craig, the technique of rephrasing or taking another tactic is a great way to make sure that all of the students are truly understanding the concepts. Dr. Ryan Meers
Lisa, those little pictures & similar devices are a great way to help solidify the concepts in our memories. Dr. Ryan Meers
Lisa, this is definitely an increased challenge with the long-term groups. I would personally recommend that long-term groups be used for 1 or 2 major projects, but still provide plenty of opportunity for individual grades. Dr. Ryan Meers
IDA, it is a challenge not to show our fatigue, frustration, etc in our bodies but definitely worth working on so our students can't tell when we're tired & when we're not. Dr. Ryan Meers
IDA, yes all of these aspects of nonverbal communication are that way to portray how you really feel about a topic. Dr. Ryan Meers
Lynn, yes & this is a great skill to learn as it is often used in the work environment. Dr. Ryan Meers
Lima, I agree that the more we can help those students who are struggling in an individual or small setting the better. Dr. Ryan Meers
