Dr. Ryan Meers

About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Curran, well put & a great point. While we don't want to discourage students, we also want them to be challenged & realize that sometimes that is where the most learning occurs. Dr. Ryan Meers
Spring, yes & the leadership challenges have variety as sometimes it's a situation where the students won't take leadership or another where one student is taking too much leadership. Dr. Ryan Meers
Spring, this is true & I also think it helps the students to sense that you are approachable & that they can ask you what they need to when they are not understanding the concepts. Dr. Ryan Meers
Ivan, this is so true. I tutored a friend in undergrad in History & she commented that she understood it so much better because I related it as a story rather than facts. Dr. Ryan Meers
Tracy, the enthusiasm of the teacher for the subject matter & for teaching as a whole is very important to keep the class engaged. Dr. Ryan Meers
Curran, yes, variety in our communication is important & it is definitely true that one is not more important than another. We all have different areas of communication we need to individually work on & improve. Dr. Ryan Meers
