About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Mark , it really does require some classroom/instructional gymnastics. Yet, in the long run I think it does result in overall better instruction. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Sherry, this is a great point & if those workshops are being offered, then yes take advantage of those. Along with this, look for online offerings too as these can be very time-saving. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jeanette, this is a great point & the more open we are to our students, the more likely they are to come to us when they are struggling. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jeanette, and I have found that the quicker I learn their names, the more likely they are to come to me with problems or if they are struggling. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jeanette, I think the floating & engaging of the groups is very helpful. This helps them stay focused as they never know when you might be poppping in. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Celeste, yes, this aspect can really help those who may hold back. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Amanda, the changing of groups is a great idea. I would also consider assigning roles & rotating those roles at different times. This can help from the dominators from always taking over. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jeanette, this is a great point on both accounts: inclusion of students & conveyance of confidence on the part of the instructor. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Brian, it definitely helps keep attention & also helps those students who might be a little bit sleepy. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
