About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Karen, this is a great point. This visualization can really help the different types of learners & also give them the solid examples to build upon. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
beverly, excellent point made here. A student may be reluctant to admit confusion or to ask a question but they probably show this in their eyes. If we can read this message, we will be able to help them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Maureen, this is a great idea & approach. I often marvel at how show folks make each show seem fresh & as if it's the first time for them. As instructors, we may have presented this same information a million times, but we need to keep it fresh & exciting for the students. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Noreen, and by researching & knowing both sides we have a greater chance of controlling those emotions. As I understand the other party, I can see why they feel/think the way they do & so I better understand them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

William, these are all great points of what makes an effective presenter. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Mayra, you are so right that listening is one of the most important supervisory skills. By truly listening we can identify how best to help our employees & motivate them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Kari, yes, dyslexia is a very common disability. The one positive in this is that as it has become more recognized there is more information on how to help these students. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
