About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Jeffrey, You are on point! Students really seem to grasp the information when they are involved. Patricia Scales
Hi Niel, What a great activity. This is exactly what the students will be doing in the real world. You are doing what needs to be done to get your students job ready. Patricia Scales
Hi Rochelle, Wow, you certainly get your students prepared for the workplace. You do not leave any stone unturned. Your students will be ready once they finish the course. I love how you make this learning apply to the real world. This is exactly what students will encounter in a dental practice. KUDOS for thoroughly peparing your students and getting them ready for success. You do a fine job with generating critical/analytical thinking. Patricia Scales
Hi DANIEL, Awesome approach! I can tell your students learn a lot from this type of teaching method. Lecture, do, and review with question/answer session. I love this teaching practice. Patricia Scales
Hi Douglas, Consistency is always the best approach. Students need to realize that they should be familiar with course material so that they do not have to waste a lot time. Patricia Scales
Hi Kelcena, How does this help reduce cheating? What do you do to reduce cheating? I make it simple, they know that I am watching them, and I stand the entire time they are testing. Patricia Scales
Hi Greg, A divider is a good way to deter cheating because they can not see other's work. Patricia Scales
Hi Graham, Exactly! Students should want to be prepared for the real world. Having the "I'll just wing-it attitude" is an attitude that will not get you very far. Employers expect you to be knowledgeable. Patricia Scales
Hi MALCOLM, I like to inform my students how the course will benefit them in the real world. Students need to understand the importance of the course to their future. Patricia Scales
Hi Seth, Students develop more confidence if they can see what is expected of them with an assignment/project. Patricia Scales
