About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Monique, I concur! Students get motivated and excited when they see a visual as to what is expected of them. The visual lets them know that they assignment is doable. Patricia Scales
Hi Shirley, As instructors we should do all we can to eliminate the fear for students. It is human nature to be nervous of the unknown. We do our students great justice by sharing an example. The example gives them motivation and eases their fear. Students need to believe. We help them believe by sharing examples. Patricia Scales
Hi Danice, Great hands-on practice to get students excited and ready for the real world. Students love doing things in the classroom that they are going to encounter on the job. Patricia Scales
Hi Regan, Awesome! Peer teaching is great! Some students really have a natural knack for teaching, and it really brings out their competitive side. It is also like a competition going on, and most students really try their hardest. This type of assigment really promotes critical thinking. Patricia Scales
Hi Edward, It sticks more when students are able to do/apply what they have lectured about. Students really learn more by doing. Patricia Scales
Hi Peter, Awesome guidance! What a great teaching method to utilize. I can tell you are very helpful, and you want your students to succeed. Patricia Scales

Hi Maria, You have it! Let students know that the course is certainly going to benefit them in their career, and they will be expected to know the information. Patricia Scales
Hi James, This generation love to hang out, and you are being very creative with this type of group activity. How smart and creative on your part to produce fun for students, but at the same time, they are learning/retaining their information. Patricia Scales
