About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi James, I concur! Actually, I have found this scenario to be true with all schools. We must do our due diligence to produce a qulaity employee because the institution's reputation is on the line. Patricia Scales
Hi Brook, I understand! Valid points made. We cerrtainly can't change people. Some students are simply just quiet; we can only enocurage them to participate. Patricia Scales
Hi Jessica, You have it! Examples provide great clarity. Students have a better understanding when they can see what is required of them. Patricia Scales

Hi Tammy, You do a fantastic job with making course requirements clear. Your students are fortunate to be given a calendar as well. They have no excuse not knowing what is due. Patricia Scales
Hi Duanna, Absolutely! We should be the role model that we want our students to become! Lead by example. Patricia Scales
Hi Aracelis, You have it! These are great ways to get silent students involved. I have also learned that silent students are more likely to open up in smaller groups. Patricia Scales
Hi Laurence, The syllabus is certainly the tool to provide clarity about course requirements. Students can refer to the syllabus throughout the grading period. Patricia Scales
Hi Ana, Awesome! Students should appreciate a calendar from the instructor to help keep them on point. Thanks for going the extra mile for students. Patricia Scales
