About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Susan, I love your strictness because this is exactly how it is in the real world. Deadlines are made to be adhered to not broken. Patricia Scales
Hi Erin, A painted picture provides great clarity for students. If students can visualize it, they tend to understand better. Patricia Scales
Hi Tony, Seeing is believing! It sticks better when students can see it. Patricia Scales
Hi Vicki, Examples provide great clarity to students. Patricia Scales
Hi Tram, The syllabus is definitely the document to provide great clarification. Patricia Scales
Hi Vicki, Humor can really lighten the burden. Laughter is good for us all. Patricia Scales
Hi KarrieAnn, These are great ways to generate excitement, especially the hands-on portion. Patricia Scales
Hi Ryan, I suggest that you talk to your DOE and/or seasoned instructor to find out if they know how you can put a twist on the course to help students see how the course will help them in their field. Even if it does not help them in their field, it may help them in life. Patricia Scales
Hi Aimi, This is a great way to get students to buy in by helping them to understand how the course will help them. Patricia Scales
