About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Robert, Wow, you have an abundance of experience. Your students are certainly fortunate to have you. I am sure you can share a lot of real-world experience with your students to put things in perspective for them. Experience is certainly the best teacher. Patricia Scales
Hi LaWandra, It is good when we can try to help our students see the big picture and really be concerned with the tomorrow. Students must understand the future is just as important as the present. Patricia Scales
Hi Patti, You mentioned role model in your response, and I am so glad you did. The instructor can certainly play the role of the professional based on the course content they are teaching, i.e. I teach Professional Development, and I always dress the part of a professional and certainly exhibit professional behavior. Hi George, It is amazing what students can teach each other and how easily they can learn from each other. In the IT field doing is a must in order to learn. Patricia Scales
Hi Clive, Learning really sticks better when students are able to do the task. Patricia Scales

Hi Kelly, We have to trust that our students have the ability to perform. It is amazing what students can really do. You are definitely on point, the students know if they need you, you are there. Patricia Scales
Hi Nestor, You are on point! The instructor is the authoritative figure and controls the classrom. As instructors, we need to make sure to produce an environment for effective learning to take place. Patricia Scales
