About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi LaWandra, Building a relationship with students is very important. Students trust you and will not want to disappoint you when you have established a relationship with them. They will work hard due to your relationship with them. Patricia Scales
Hi Steven, I concur! Students love it when they can put things in perspective based on what the instructor tells them as the content of the stories pertain to the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Nancy, Absolutely! Students have a better understanding when they can see an actual example. Patricia Scales
Hi Sarah, Students love hearing about our professional experiences as they apply to course content. Sharing past experience makes for an exciting part of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Algevis, Students like to know that we are available to them. They feel less intimidating knowing we are there to help them get through. Patricia Scales
Hi Sandra, Great way to teach accounting and for that matter any course that allows students to actually do. Most students learn better by doing. Patricia Scales
Hi Diane, Students need to know what you expect of them and that you will not tolerate their foolishness. We have to set very high standards for our students so that they can rise to their fullest level of expectation in all areas. Patricia Scales
Hi Antoinette, I love the questions. These questions really give students something to think about. Sometimes students just need to think in order to become more rational. Patricia Scales
Hi Sherry, Great points made! Guest speakers certainly add a lot of flavor and great positivity to the classroom. Patricia Scales
Hi LaWandra, You have some students that will not do their work if they know that the instructor does not care enough to follow up with assignments. Instructors should want to know how their students are progressing or a lack there of in class. Following up should be done by the instructor. If the instructor is lazy then sometimes students will become lazy. Patricia Scales
