About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Mauricio, Great clarity is provided when examples are shared. Patricia Scales
Hi Annette, Visual examples stick with students. Students will remember better if they are shown an example. Patricia Scales
Hi Laura, This is also a great way to show students their growth from Day 1 to the end. Visual adds great clarity. A better understanding is gained by seeing. Patricia Scales
Hi Joseph, I let my students know how the course is going to be beneficial to them either personally/professionally or both. Patricia Scales
Hi Heather, I concur! Students do not need another buddy. They need role models. Let's lead by example. Patricia Scales
Hi Morgan, Favoritism is frowned upon. Treat all students the same. Maintain a professional image at all times. Patricia Scales
Hi DeShaun, You are on point. The relationship between the student and instructor should be strictly professional. It becomes way too risky when the relationship becomes personal. Patricia Scales
Hi Luanna, The policy also needs to be fully enforced. Patricia Scales
Hi David, You are right! If students do not respect you; they will not listen to anything you have to say. Patricia Scales
Hi Debra, It means a lot to students when they know that their instructor genuinely cares about them. Patricia Scales
