About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Katina, Students know when you are cofident and prepared. Students will down grade you when you are not up to par. We owe it to our students to be thoroughly prepared. Patricia Scales
Hi Jamie, It is better to be over prepared than to be under prepared. Preparation is key and gives you a greater level of comfort. Patricia Scales
Hi Chris, Preparation is key! When you are prepared you are more comfortable with presenting. Patricia Scales
Hi Richard, When you establish a relationship with students you are more comfortable teaching them, which helps with the nerves/anxiety level. Patricia Scales
Hi Vallene, It is great to know that you are observing/circulating to ensure an environment is produced so that effective learning can take place. Patricia Scales
Hi Vallene, It is always good to have this type of conversation in a private setting. Students will get very disrespectful if you handle something of this nature in open forum. They will display inappropriate behavior in front of their peers to save face. Patricia Scales
Hi Jamie, Listening is key! Listen without interruptions. Sometimes just listening to the angry student will calm them down tremendously. Patricia Scales
Hi Katina, A group is smaller than a class, and shy students do much better in a smaller setting. Patricia Scales
