About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Maritza, Scenarios as such really require students to think out of the box. Students need to know how to make decisions based on their own personal experiences/ideas. Patricia Scales
Hi Kevin, I like how you allow the students to visit the site to make their assessment. I also like how you have your students use their text book as a source to help with their assessment. This is a good exercise also for students to see how to apply book theory in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Laura, I like how you allow flexibility with procedures as long as the method is not harmful to anyone. I am sure you fully monitor those things that can only be done one way. Patricia Scales
Hi Francis, I love your perspective. You have great flexibility abilities. I can tell you do not miss a beat because you really know how to roll with the punches. I love instructors like you having the ability to deal with whatever is issued to you. Patricia Scales
Hi LeWando, Introduction of everyone is a good way to bond at put everyone at ease. Introductions have formed great relationships. Patricia Scales
Hi Patricia, Preparation is key! Things go a lot smoother when you are prepared. Also nervousness is eased when you are prepared. Confidence is gained with preparation. Patricia Scales
Hi Todd, Too much is at risk whenever a student and instructor develop a friendly relationship. The student/instructor relationship should be strictly professional. Patricia Scales
Hi Julie, This is exactly how I handle such students. You have to let them know firmly and privately that you will not tolerate their behavior, and the employer is certainly not going to tolerate their behavior. Students have to realize their wrong doing. Patricia Scales
Hi Donna, Awesome! Field trips bring textbook theory to real life. Students love going on field trips and relating the field trip to things they have learned in class. Patricia Scales
Hi Dena, Students love for us to make learning applicable to the real world. It is amazing that students retain more when they have fun while learning. Patricia Scales
