About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Cynthia, I love the idea of the mentors to help draw in quiet students. Sometimes you just simply need to reach out to the more quiet students. Patricia Scales
Hi Marjorie, Wow!! You really go above and beyond to ensure your students know exactly what is required of them. Your students should appreciate the indication of time and the difficulty level posted on the syllabus. Patricia Scales
Hi Gwendolyn, Students love jeopardy, and they tend to do well on the test from this type of review because they retain the information through having fun with the game. Patricia Scales
Hi Earl, Implement these hands-on activities. The students will enjoy them. Patricia Scales
Hi Jennifer, Great strategy and this gives the students ownership in the course as well. We know that students should get at least six questions right on the test because they came up with at least six questions. Patricia Scales
Hi Margaret, I like how you ask students many questions before lecturing for engagement, and I am sure you keep them engaged throughout the lecture as well by asking a lot of questions. Patricia Scales
Hi Jeffrey, This is a super exercise because I am sure this type of situation will occur on the job; it gets the student workforce ready. Patricia Scales
