Checkyour self, Just as you expectitions can influence students outcomes, so can you.  Your students are oftem a mirror of your attitude, intrest and opinion of the day's material.

If you do not precieve the material as interesting, important and fun to learn neither will your students,

Just as a lot of people have personal choices in music they will also have personal or blended ways of learning. Make sure that you can explain material and give examples in at least 3-4 ways, Also use your students as a resource. Sometimes a student will relate better to a slightly different expaination form another student to finish opening the door with the explaination you used.

Adult learners usually fall into two groups: the 1st came because they "Want " to learn new skills and knowedgle. They are the easy ones, all they need is a good guide to helpexpand their insight. They second group is often their as a result of economy and job security. You will usually have to convince them the value of being their and give them more direct skills and knowedgle that they can directly relate to a field of employment.

If you have a true passion for what you do, you will never stop learning. Watch all the other managers in you company and pay close attention to how they take care of daily business and how their direct reports respond to their management style. You can learn as much from a bad manager as from a good one. Each one can show you something that may work for you as well as thing you know will not work for you.

I believe that as long as you are in position that requires you to use management and leaderships skills that you are is a state of constant development. there are usually daily moments that you will use both skill sets to get the best performance from not only the people that report to you but also get the best support from the people that you report to. One size only fits one person, what I mean by that is you will use one style of approach with a group and then a personalized style of approach for each person in… >>>

Sometime in our busy day we miss one of the best chances to make a critical contact. You are in a hurry going down the hall and rather that speak or greet a student you just walk by so you will not be late to whatever. This could be the moment you can get a real idea of how a student is doing by just greeting him and actually listening to his response and if it is not a positive one talking some time to find out why and try to help.

In our steel welding class we have several skill based application projects. We had a problem with the scores on an industry based welding test. It had clear timelines and procedures. We starting doing part of the course lab required welding projects in the same formart to reduce the "test pressure" on the students. This has increased the industry test completion rate by almost 20%.

Do you find that some of your students are a blend of learning styles rather instead of just one style? By using a varity of presentation styles it will help you to tune into what the best 1st and 2nd choise style that works for each student.
