I do believe  that asking questions is a great way to motivate students to get involved in the classroom

It is important to understand the different learning styles of students so you can include these in your teaching style to cover the different styles and not fall into the habit of teaching the way you learn.

I like the idea of mini lectures. you do not want the students getting bored. You have to make learning exciting and to do that you have to be prepared and learn different ways of including different styles of teaching. 

Introduce yourself and just be you. extremely important to remember names and have them introduce their self to the class  

I think a Checklist and note pad would be a great tool. You have to be prepared because if you are not the students can tell 

Lead by Example. Learn from your Peers.  There is always someone smarter than yourself. Be a good motivator.
