In my classroom, self-learning is required by having each student research a disease and present it to the class. This gives the student experience and self-confidence in public speaking.

I do not presently work in an environment that requires disciplinary actions. But if I should in the future find myself in an inner-city institution, I believe what I learned today will be very helpful.

I am for the most part a guide. But, this course has caused me to pigeon-hole my collogues into specific categories.  

My students are young adults entering one of the medical fields. I use primarily an authoritative style of instruction to impart the seriousness of their future careers.

I find that probing is my best technique to get reluctant students to engage in class discussions.

Asking questions, whether closed or open, after a lecture is an effective way to stimulate critical thinking during class discussion.
