I lerned about  the ADA.  Online instructors often cannot identify disabilities. Students need to find the disability center on campus and report their disability(s) by having it documented. There are resources and information that can help them with any educational disabilities.  

It is so very wonderful that there are so many programs and resources for individuals with disabilities in existence today.

Online Learners with Disabilities

I learned lots from this first module. I did not realize that so much needed to be taken into consideration. When planning learning for persons with disabilities lots of compassion needs to be exercized. The designer and planner has to be aware of visual, hearing, and physical impairments just to name a few. 

I intend to apply what I have learned with caution, deliberation, and sensitivity.

Multiple evaluations are necessary in evaluating my course and guides me on how to make course improvements. Additionally, I need to take into account my stakeholders, their comments and insights.

I learned from this module the power and importance of rubrics. This is a great tool, and can be tremendously helpful to the teacher and to students. I can see how to apply it in a number of ways. Teachers can apply it when assessing how students are incorporating the essential elements in projects. Students can use it in assessing that they are meeting all of the required elements in a project, as they are constructing the project.

Students need to feel that they are a part of the learning community. Engagement and inclusion with and in the discussion community is essential. Students have to believe that they have a sense of ownership. Additionally, scaffolding is important. How learning is constructed and built is the stronghold that needs to exist from the very beginning when designing learning.

I learned the importance of being consistent. Students need and want to know what to expect. Additionally, the concept of chunking information, to avoid overloading of subject matter. I also like the existence of the learning objects. I believe that I will enjoy using these.
