Hi DeeAnn- Thanks for your post to the forum. You make a good point- sometimes the re-explaination of a concept during questioning makes the concept clearer than when it was first explored by the instructor. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Andrea- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that you are right to expect that students understand formulas/procedures that they will be expected to be able to use in their careers. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Roemarie- Thanks for your post to the forum. You might want to consider adding some "get up and move" activities routinely. Get students up to the board, or put them in groups to discuss a topic. All styles appreciate some diversity! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Denise - Thanks for your post to the forum. An even more effective use of CATs is to have your students complete them at the end of a class. That way you will get your feedback in time to revise your materail for the next class. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Don - Thanks for your post to the forum. You make a good point - questions that are too broad will leave most students confused; what exactly are they being asked? Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Laura- thanks for your post to the forum. I imagine that since you routinely start each class with questioning, it does improve the amount of homework/prep that your students do. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Joe - There is nothing better than showing students how what they are learning will be applied in their career! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Summer - Especailly with schools that have "open admission" policies which include most community colleges and many private/for-profits, we do get students that can barely read/write. It's very disturbing, but something we must somehow deal with. Susan
Hi Teresa- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree, often students may have had the same question but were afraid to ask. Recognizing that other students had the same question reassures them and encourages them to ask questions in the future. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Veronica- I hope that you continue to get good results by varying your delivery to reach all the learning styles! Susan
