Hi Melanie- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a great job at getting your students actively involved in their learning! Best wishes for continued success in your teachibg career. Susan
Hi Melanie - Thanks for your post to the forum. I must say that I am very impressed with your proactive approach with your students- you clearly go way above expectations to be sure that your students are learning. Great work! Best wishes for continued success in your teachibg career. Susan
Hi Don - thanks for your post to the forum. That you make an effort to get to know your students one-on-one in the beginning of your classes makes a huge impact. As you mention, your students are more open to participate in discussions - I will bet that it is because they feel more comfotable because of your efforts! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Paul- Thanks for your post to the forum. I would bet that most of your students would be tactile/kinesthetic but there will always be a few who are not. Mixing your delivery style with some videos/powerpoints (just occasionaly ) will give all your students some variety. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Melanie- Thanks for your post to the forum. Yes, we do need to be able to know what the reading and writing abilities(general education skills)of our students are. Unfortunately too many of our students arrive at our colleges with limited skills. We must get them all the remedial assistance that we can, but it really makes our job more difficult. Also, we hav to ponder, is it fair to give those students more leeway because they have limited gen ed skills?? Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Michael - Thanks for your post to the forum. I'm glad that you have found some interesting ideas in this class! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Richard - Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree - if we do no pre-testing how will we ever know what they have learned? Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi David - Thanks for your post to the forum. Just as students learn differently, they have different reactions to testing. You are giving them a chance to demonstrate what they know in a less intimidating manner. Best wishes- Susan
Hi Isaac - Thanks for your post to the forum. Yes, by including diversity in our delivery as we write our lesson plans, we prepare to teach to the learning styles. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Debi - Thanks for your post to the forum. I like that you are looking at your students to determine their committment to their own learning. Unless they WANT to learn, there is little that we can do. How to give them that thirst for learning is another challenge! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
