Hi Joyce- Thanks for your post to the forum. Unfortunately I have seen students drop out because they felt embarrassed by an answer they may have given that was ridiculed by a classmate (or even worse) an instructor! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI Jodi - Thanks for your post to the forum. Actually often we tend to use too much PPT- I think we have all heard the warnings about "Death by Powerpoint"! Any visuals at all will be helpful-photos, diagrams, models etc. will all work. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Eva- Thanks for your post to the forum. I am certain that you will find using CATs useful. Especially if you make a point of visibly incorporating their feedback and relating it to what they said on CATs, your students will indeed feel that they gave valuable feed-back. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Eric- Thank you for YOUR idea about teaching to kinesthtic learners! I'm glad that you also got some additional suggestions to use. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Mary - Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree- allowing students to explore areas that might be related to but not really "on topic" can yield some great discussions! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Perry - Isn't that just the best! I too love when my students start to debate. i am careful to sit back and let them go and wow -it is so exciting! Susan
Hi Perry- Thanks for your post to the forum. You do certainly have a diverse group of students. This is certainly challenging but you have the right attitude! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Angel - Thanks for your post to the forum. I am not sure what sort of computer classes you teach. We use simulations as much as possible in our Network Admin. and Network Security programs. It gets the students familiar with the problems they will encounter in the field. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Sarah -Thanks for your post to the forum. As a former Paralegal myself, I can understand the problems with teaching kinesthetic learners. I like your ideas of having students visit courtrooms. I would also suggest the possibility of shadowing or interning if possible. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Kim - we can always find ways to ensure a student is successful in some way. Then, as you mention, focus on that success. Susan
