Hi Melissa- Thanks for your post to the forum. I think that what is more important about student self asessment is that it lets the students see for themselves how well they are doing. Often they have either been overestimating or underestimating that. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Erin- Thanks for your post to the forum. The Minute Paper, as well as some of the other CATs, are great tools. I know that you will find them useful. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Erin- Thanks for your post to the forum. As career educators, we do need to always be aware of what will be expected of our students in their careers and make sure that they will meet those expectations.
Hi Kirk- Thanks for your post to the forum. I so agree- as instructors we have a duty to constantly evaluate how effectively we are teaching.
Hi Nicole - Thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a good job of varying your delivery. I am certain that you will find an early learning styles assessment to be very valuable! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI Anna- Thanks for your post to the forum. You have quite an interactive classroom! Your students must really enjoy their time in class! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Renee- Thanks for your post to the forum. You obviously do everything you can to get your students involved in their learning. "Will work for Candy!" is great! LOL! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Shawn - Thanks for your post to the forum. I also assume that in any of my class every learning style will be represented. Therefore, I also vary my delivery. However if you can be certain that 75% are one specific style, I think it would be reasonable to lean more towards that style but not to the exclusion of the others. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi George - Thanks for your post to the forum. You have the right idea - it is much more effective to add occasional questions as you are lecturing, rather than waiting to you are finished and asking "Does anyone have any questions?". The question that a student had about some topic at the beginning is now long lost and, for that student, probably also much of the content that followed! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Rich- Thanks for your post to the forum. Recognising that we have our own preferred learning style does help us to keep that in mind as we teach. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
