Hi Richelle- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a great job of varying your delivery to accomodate the learning styles of your students. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Margaret- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree, with your very sensible teaching strategy! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Monty - I teach mostly online now also. I love to find videos that are relevant to what I am teaching. Mostly I find them on YouTube but often a Google search gives me some other great ones. You can then post the link to your class's online page or copy the source code and paste it to your class. My students love them! Susan
Hi Lisa - Thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a great job of varying your assessments to accomodate your students' learning styles! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Monty - You can make an assignment that requires them to come up with a question. The question they submit will most likely be the one they really wanted to ask but did not want to appear stupid. Susan
A very good question Monty! I make sure that my students understand that there will be a group grade but that a certain percentage will be based on their invidual work. This can be assessed through submission of journals tracking their individual work as well as peer evaluation. It's important to make sure that you are doing interim checks of these assessments, rather than waiting until the end of the project. Susan
Hi Monty - Thanks for your post to the forum. I think it depends on what you are trying to assess. If it is basic terms or concepts, mutiple choice is usually fine. However, if you are trying to see if students know how to combine concepts or to apply concepts to case studies, then a take home test or project would be more appropriate. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Joseph- I also find that using small groups to get introverts to participate works really well. Best wishes! Susan
Hi Norman - Thanks for your post to the forum. Our students really do appreciate that we make every effort to teach to all the learning styles and it actually makes our job much more rewarding! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Wendy - Yes, now I understand - you are looking for biographical info, so yes, developing questions that give you the info you need is appropriate. Best wishes! Susan
