Hi Michael - Thanks for sharing a good example of how we can tailor our responses to the different learning styles. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Michael - Thanks for your post to the forum. I can see why ppts could be a problem. Still, you are doing a great job of varying your delivery! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Sahbaa-Another idea that you might want to try to get students to ask questions is to give them the assignment of putting a question on a slip of paper without their name on it. Then you read the questions in class. Susan
Hi Vanessa- Thanks for your post to the forum. No question about it- when students are asked to utilize/apply concepts, retention definitely increases! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Dawna - you are quite welcome! Susan
Hi Jonathan- Thanks for your post to the forum. As you mention, as long as we make the effort to vary our delivery techniques as much as possible, we will be doing our best to teach to the learning styles. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi heather - thanks for your post to the forum. You are certainly running an "Active" classroom! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Deanna - Thanks for your post to the forum. Although I would hesiatate to say that any learning style could be considered a "weakness", I do agree that especially with younger students, encouraging them to explore learning styles is well worthwhile! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Kelli - Thanks for your post to the forum. I also teach primarily online now. Do you find that your students reply to your follow-up questions? So often I find that once they have posted the required response they do not return to the module or forum. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Joel - Thanks for your post to the forum. I can see how culinary classes would limit what you could do to accomodate your written word learners. My suggestions would be to always have the recipes, Powerpoints, etc. printed out for them. You could also find an interesting culinary related article each day or week to share with the class. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
