Hi Ashley- Thanks for your post to the forum. At the college where I teach, we embedd communication related activities into every class. Still, in the relatively short time that they are our students, it is hard to make up for deficiencies that are severe. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Thomas - Thanks for your post to the forum. You are using a good variety of delivery styles to reach your students - well done! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Sherrie- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are using best practices as an online instructor - feedback is essential! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Tara- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a great job of creating an active learning classroom. I remember what it was like to be an adult student in my early 30's with a classroom full of 18 year olds at the Univ. of Pittsburgh - interesting! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Heather - Thanks for your post to the forum. I would stop the shouting out of answers in your reviews. You might want to set up teams, each with a mix of the more extroverted and introverted students. Make the rule be that the team members must take a turn answering but that they can each consult with the rest of the team before giving an answer. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Joel - Thanks for your post to the forum. Basing your assessments on class presentations and reading assignments is a very comprehensive approach. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Richele- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that teaching adults can be a challenge. Their knowledge and experience is often much more diverse than the usual 18 year old. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Mary - Thanks for your post to the forum. Your emphasis on the multiple choice assessment is a good choice as this will make your students more comfortable with the format in the accreditation exam. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Anthony - Thanks for your post to the forum which mentions a good point - when students take notes it increases their retention of the concepts. One suggestion though is to give students some effective note taking tips. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Scott - Thanks for your post to the forum. When students apply the concepts they are learning in the lab they usually have increased retention of those concepts. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
