Consistency is key to online class management. 

I think its interesting that they say that online class is similar to in class settings and that there is often conflict. I have taken many online courses and I never got that impression. Also I like the record keeping aspect of this module. 

I have learned the difference in the terminology of synchronous vs asynchronous discussions. 

Instructor presence is crucial for online learning. Students need to see that the instructor is invested in their success. 

Goals for similar courses should be common but intstructors may use different methods to get there. It should be very organized. 

Feedback is very important and must be consistent. Students need to know you are seeing their work and evaluating it. 

I have learned that student engagement is so very important. If they are bored or are not interested in the material/assignments online it would be very difficult for them to be engaged. 

I have learned that a pattern of communication or consistency is very important for student success. It also keeps the instructor on track.

I think assessing the tools for effectiveness is very important. It might work for one teacher and not another. You should try it out before putting it out there to students as well.
