Great thought!  One of the things I could really use is to populate the Campus Vue system with student headshots.  I don't recognize the new students till they are 4-5 terms in the program.  By that time, most of the drop outs have already happened.

Displaying pictures of graduation to incoming students and current students can be useful in reinforcing its attainability. 

The best takeaway that I had was to have each faculty member pick a different set of 5 students to engage in a postive manner each week. I think this is important because some students naturally seek the attention and receive it.  What I expect from this action is that the students who do not normally get attention will now be actively given attention. Using this formula, and within the academic year, each student will have had individualized attention at least 11 times.  That really is not that much and maybe not even what they need, but it is better than what they might normally get if they are naturally… >>>

Let me present an alternative answer. Although having the 'student as a customer' mindset is useful from a retention and marketing perspective, the student is also a client, much like a doctor or lawyer has clients.  They come to college because they have problems, mostly economic.  Career college students are not attending to have fun like they sometimes do in some public universities.  They are also often at a big disadvantage.  This applies not only to the way they learn, but the way they carry themselves, their attire, their use of language and a myriad of daily personal obstacles; lack of family support, babysitter challenges, health challenges, and even… >>>
