You must use social networking tools appropriately when teaching online or offline. Although social media has much greater uses when instructing virtually. Rubrics can be applied to social networking in order to know how much my students understand the material at-hand. One such rubric/metric for measuring student learning is Bloom's Taxonomy.

As educators we should strive to perfect our rubrics through inter and intra-rater reliabiliy in order to ensure learning on the behalf of both the student and teacher. Involving students in the rubric creation process is a great way of engaging them in the curriculum as well as convincing them to put forth their best-efforts in the learning environment.

There are a number of sources out there for making a good rubric, but make sure no matter what that you have a concise and fair rubric.

Rubrics should be made or a specific assignment or else they might serve no effective purpose. The layout of a rubric is also fundamental for students' success.

Rubrics can be excellent tools for instructors to observe the progress their students have made, and are also great tools for students. This is because they give students an idea of how to maximize the quality of their assignment, while improving their learning potential. Although they may be time consuming, general, analytical, and hollistic rubrics are for the most part, one of the best teaching/learning tools.

Students' ability to define there own schedule can harm them as much as it can hurt them. Lack of netiquette can lead to serious problems in the classroom. Students should follow the seven principles of learning.

Asynchronous and synchronous communication tools are vital to the structuring of a learning group. Be sure that your students are familiar with how to properly use technology.

Communication is key to the success of a learning community. If when students are engaged they will certainly perform better. Communication in a learning community must be clear, void of text language, and appropriate for the classroom.

I learned the importance of accomodating my lessons to my students, especially those who suffer from disabilities. Time management and motivation are key! Setting goals for my students will help their time managment and the satisfactory feeling from good grades is sure to benefit them by improving their motivation.

This was a very informative module. I especially enjoyed learning about holistic assessments. Personally, I thin that taking into consideration the studnets as induviduals and the learning process itself can ultimately produce better assessments and evaluation of student knowledge.
