1: it's all about the student.
2: Make it easy for the student. Easy to find things because the layouts are consistent, easy to predict brain-drain because the lengths are consistent, easy to understand because one "chunk" of knowledge via "learning objects" because each leads to another, and easy to feel at home because the voice is consistent.
3: Make it relevant. Every lesson contributes to the goal of the course as stated in the learning objectives.
