I particularly like your third action item, Laura. Students are always asking â€œwhy do I have to know this stuffâ€? Instructors don't hear that question nearly as much when the objectives and skills are clearly related to career objectives.

Les, would you please share more information about your teacher orientation/training? How long is it? Is done in a group? Who facilitates the training? Also, do you have a written system of follow-up/reporting when a faculty member talks with a student who is having a problem?

Laura, it's nice to see activities that involve students of varying achievement levels. The support groups allow students to participate in an environment where there is a give and take, based on the immediate need. Certainly, the â€œBring a Friend to Schoolâ€ program could work for every student.

Laura, welcome to RT101 Thanks for you input about using student surveys. Do you provide any feedback to students who do more that simply answer to survey questions? Is participation as robust with â€œupperclassmenâ€ as the entering students? How useful was the Noel-Levitz survey?
