Does your campus have a suggestion box now, John? If so, how will you get students to offer suggestions? Getting students to actually use a suggestion box can be challenging, but your plan could lead to quick, positive results by involving the decision makers. Without that, the box won't be used. If people are asked to provide feedback and then nothing happens, it won't be long until they don't bother and the exercise becomes a waste of time, energy and good will.

How do you assure the students that they won't be punished for speaking out? Students tend to be a wary lot and question why they should take the risk without a clearly identified benefit for them.

That's a lot of data to get from students. How much do they comply? Does participation increase/decrease as they move through the program? How much impact do the results have on instructor performance reviews and compensation?
